Speaking of outdoor adventure, what kinds of actives pop into your head?
Camping, Hiking, mountain climbing, sky running, water sports, kayaking, skydiving, ballooning…
OK , OK , you name it.
Last several weeks, I talked 2 relevant topics about outdoor actives with your kids. One is 9 Best Safe Summer Outdoors Actives With Your Kids and another one is 9 Amazing Health Benefits Of Children Playing Outdoors.
When it comes to adult outdoor adventure, it’s much more fun when you go out to explore the natural areas alone or with your friends, isn’t it?
You’re hiking out to the mountain area, the first time you’re there, you know nothing about the upcoming experience. However, the further you explore, the more view you’re going to see.
The outdoors adventure have full surprised around, that means unexpected situations may occur along with the excitement parts.
This week, I am going to talk about How To Boosted Your Peace Of Mind In The Outdoor Adventure.
1. Location, location and location
In the economic world, location is the key for the most business, such as good location for the restaurant, good location for real estate, good location for the shopping mall ect .
To boost your peace of mind in the outdoor adventure.?It would not wrong to find the right location also important for different adventure actives over time. Do the right thing in the right place, I have to say that.
For example, you like water sports kayaking, one of the awesome ways to see some of the most beautiful natural destinations in the world. You should familiar the water space you’re going to kayaking. At least, one of your friends who should familiar to the open water in the groups.
As you have experience in Kayaking, it feels totally different when you kayaking in the sea, lack and even paddle over the waterfalls. It required different skill that you should have so that can control your kaya much easier.
Taste out the water, checking the environment around and see if it’s safe or not before you jump into kayaking.
That’s the same for another outdoor actives swimming.
I read one of the articles from WHO ( World Health Organization ), drowning is the 3rd leading cause of unintentional injury death, accounting for 7% of all injury-related deaths.
In 2015, an estimated 360 000 people died from drowning, making drowning a major public health problem worldwide. The injuries accounted for over 9% of total global mortality.
Swimming in the unfamiliar water space would cause the drowning in few seconds. I had experience that has my feet cramp when I swimming in the swimming pool. Let alone, if you will swim in the unfamiliar water which could make you lost balance if the cramp happen.
Global report on drowning by WHO, it lists out the drowning key facts such as :
- 372000 people die from drowning every year
- Globally, over half of all drowning deaths are among those aged under 25 years.
- There are approximately 42 drowning deaths every hour, every day
- Males are twice as likely to drown as females
The outdoor adventure is exciting and fun; choose the safe place would make you enjoy more from these outdoor sports.
Location, Location and Location, Let me remind you again.
2.Basic Knowledge on your outdoor actives
Every people have their own habit when they learning new things or new knowledge toward things you’re green hand.
For things I commit into learn, I like to make it into a system and keep it organized.
In other words, I will look into information online or “ ask my Google friend” to support my decision. Then take the actions as soon as possible. I usually made the quick decision before execution into, and be patient to get it done.
When you get into the outdoor actives, basic knowledge learning can help you understand better and come up the outdoor skills in your unconscious brain system.
Take camping as an example, you plan to go out for camping with your family or friends. Unless you camping often, if you’re a beginner, the most comfortable ways are to check up information online, read the blog from other people who have those experience or talk with your friend who had camping experience.
There are ways to approach your interaction with outdoor activities that can make your experience both more fun and less stressful for you.
What needs to prepared for camping, write down your camping checklist. Get to know what to know before you go, camping mistakes for the beginner or the beginners guide to camping.
3. Join in local outdoor adventure clubs
One of the fastest ways to master the outdoor adventure is joined in your local clubs.
You like hiking, join in the hiking clubs. You like the mountain bike, join in the mountain bike clubs. You like the skydiving, join in the skydiving clubs.
To keep the reasons short.
Firstly, your clubs must offer you different training system.
Secondly, all member of clubs have the same hobby, you can exchange your experience before and after you have regular events.
Thirdly, besides the club training, you can hang out with your clubs friends and build up the friendship with the same hobby. Even, can have long distance adventure together to share the bill.
Sometimes take the outdoor adventure; your clubs friends help you out as a team when it’s necessary.
Start from team building with your team, and help each other to get overcome the challenge outdoor.
Volcano Island National Park located in Zhangzhou city which is 42 KM away from city live in Xiamen, China. It’s the only one scenic volcanic landscape here in China.
This island has so many resources to explore. Rich tourism resources and numerous scenic spots and historical sites, including 1 national 4 AAAA level scenic area, 2 national key cultural relics protection unit, Zhangpu Coastal Volcanoes National Geological Park was named one of the national top ten most beautiful islands.
4. Orchestrated necessary equipment
Different outdoor adventure requires different equipment. Some equipment you can rent from the local club or company, some you can prepare yourself.
Kayaking example again, as one of popular water sport, we talk a little about it just now. it has all shapes and sizes kayak, you can buy your own kayaking if you can and commit to practicing it.

For the bike riding, one of my favors outdoor sports, here are my pre-ride bicycle checklist to keep myself peaceful on the open road.
#1 ESSENTIALS (OF COURSE)
- Bike light
- MUST-HAVE GEAR
#2 Water, Energy Drinks & Energy-rich snacks
If I only ride out for morning training, I can only bring a bottle of water after had breakfast, spending 3-4 hours in the outdoor, water can enough on the riding.
But if go long distance riding, snacks would be necessary otherwise, I felt I am going to die on the way back .haha.
I use it before biking out, 35 degrees in Xiamen where I live in. sunscreen can help me get out of sunburn on the skin.
With at least SPF 30 or above (i like Mayron’s Sun Stuff SPF 30 for my arm, face, and neck. Sunscreens that contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide are the most effective for blocking and reflecting UV rays.
#4 Eye Protection
Wear sunglasses protect your eyes from sun, crud and flying bugs, Glasses designed for cycling usually cover more of your face than fashion eyewear for better protection and use tougher lenses.
#5 biking outfit
Choose a breathable fabric to keep you dry and cool no matter how long or hot the ride is, ensuring you remain comfortable all the way.
From Road.cc said the fit is everything.
For touring and leisure cycling, a relaxed fit with a more generous cut will be preferable doesn’t fit well you’ll lose a lot of performance. Fit is, naturally, a personal thing, and also depends on the style of riding you do. If it’s sportive and racing, then tighter fitting jerseys are better, they’re less flappy and more aero.

Otherwise, I can only suck in that situation. Love yourself more and have less expectation from others, it’s not possible for them to carry a first aid kit when they go out.
You’re only your own rescues before the paramedic will arrival, remember this.

Ok, you get to learn the basic knowledge of adventure you’re going to take and have full preparation on your equipment before head out.

Taking the outdoor adventure, it’s the challenge for your physical strength and further more, it challenges your psychology too.
Because every adventure you will gain good experience and bad experience at the same time. People enjoy the wonderful moment together when it has a hard time, that’s your outdoor challenge that how to overcome it.
Here are my brief opinions to get over the bad situation and prepare your psychology for that:
1) Accept the reality: when bad things happen in the outdoor adventure, such you get lost in the mountain area with your friends, lacking food after several days adventure, the bike was broken or even the injury. Accept the reality quickly.
2) Keep Perspective: keep positive toward your reality right now, there is always a hope to get over it.
3) Find the solution: in order to minimize the “lost” feeling when you suck outdoor, find out the solution as soon as possible. By using all resource you have on hand and survival skills you learn about.
4) Do not complain & be a good team member: support your team member together and try to find the solutions.
5) Mind-blowing your strong willing power
Taking the outdoor adventure must meet different challenges. The more experience you had, the more peaceful mind you will have in the outdoor. Brain like the physical muscle, it can be trained after the period of time.
When you face a different kind of outdoor situation, mind-blowing your strong willing power, get more peaceful inside of yourself and possibly can find out the solution quickly.
It just likes the every athlete, when one muscle go down (injury) and get back to train another muscle.
Say it easy, but training your strong willing power takes time. I know, because I am training myself on this every day, start from small things in life.
